Coin’s first HEART AND SOUL SKA & REGGAE FESTIVAL !

AROUND 600 people descended on the first ever Heart and Soul Ska and Reggae Festival last weekend exceeding all expectations from the organisers.

Visitors turned up in their hundreds from nearby inland towns and the coast to support the music festival staged at Venta Los Arcos in Villafranco.

The day was organised by a local group of music lovers in conjunction with local radio station Heartfm Spain and was set up to support local registered charity Have a Heart which works with needy people within the Heartfm 95.7 broadcast area. The day raised a staggering €1,400 for the charity.

The festival was held on Saturday August 28th and included day time events such as artesan and craft stalls, children’s play and activity area, bouncy castles and music from DJ’s including Lee Jay, Fiesta Girl, Steve Kay and James Clements.

Food was supplied by Flavours of Jamaica and Ashkarah Catering who worked tirelessly throughout the day and evening to feed the crowds whilst Pulpo Rojo Sounds Systems did a thoroughly professional job in supplying the sound rig.

Live groups kicked off the event mid afternoon with a band called Skadictator and the Upbeat Quartet, who had travelled from Poland to put on an amazing and entertaining show. This was followed by Absolute Pantz from Orgiva which offered something slightly different and the night was headlined by the hugely popular coastal band, Looney Toonz, who stole the show with their upbeat ska and reggae set which kept everyone dancing.

Due to the success of the day the festival is now expected to become an annual event and organisers would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported the event.
